Final Score: RC Zug 19 – RC Solothurn 19
Following on from our defeat against Solothurn
last week, we knew that the game would be hard, but winnable. The weather was good
with some nice sun in the second half.
The game began with Solothurn pushing hard
and opening up the points with a try. It was not long before we responded with
a try of our own which lifted the spirits of the team.
Our scrums & lineouts were dominate
throughout the match but they were not as good as last week. This is something
we will focus more on at training.
At halftime we were in the lead, but the
game was by no means over. We made a couple of substitutions and tried to keep
our play tight. A couple more trys followed from both teams making the match
quite closely contested.
In the last moments of the game the score
was 19-14, and we lost our focus which resulted in a late try from Solothurn.
In the end the match finished 19-19, but
credit where credit is due, Solothurn never gave up and fought till the very
end.
After the match Solothurn joined us for a
BBQ and beers at our club pub. When they went home we started to celebrate our
first home match with the usual pitchers of the clubs special drink we call
‘Fizzy Bubbler’. Drunk of the night award goes to Alex.
Man of the Match: Mario
Other notable performances from: Joel, Seb
(Vernon), Alex,
Jean & Dani.
Try scorers: Elio, Raphael (Bourda), Joel & Alex.
We would like to thank Solothurn for coming
and wish them all the best for the rest of their season. We look forward to
seeing them next year at the summer tournaments.
